txAdmin Setup Guide: Run Your First FiveM Server

How to set up a FiveM server with txAdmin: artifacts, license key, deploying a recipe, ports and the first steps once your server is online.

txAdmin is the web panel that ships with the FiveM server software. It starts, stops and restarts your server, manages players, schedules backups and deploys ready-made server setups, all from a browser. This guide walks through a first setup.

What you need

  • A Windows or Linux machine, or a hosted server, that can stay online.
  • A Cfx.re account, the same one you use on the FiveM forums.
  • A server license key from the Cfx.re Portal. Every public FiveM server needs one.
  • Open ports: 30120 (TCP and UDP) for players, and 40120 for the txAdmin web panel if you manage it remotely.

Step 1: Download the server artifacts

The FiveM server files are called artifacts. Download the latest recommended build for your operating system from the official FiveM artifacts page and extract it to a folder such as C:\FXServer\server. Keep the path short and free of special characters.

Step 2: Start txAdmin

Run FXServer.exe on Windows, or the run.sh script on Linux. The first start opens the txAdmin setup flow. The console prints a PIN and a web address, normally http://localhost:40120. Open it in your browser and enter the PIN.

txAdmin asks you to create a master account linked to your Cfx.re account. That lets you sign in securely later. Follow the prompts.

Step 4: Name the server and deploy a recipe

Choose a server name and a data folder, then pick a deployment recipe. A recipe downloads and configures a ready-made server for you. Common choices are the default FiveM template and QBCore- or ESX-based roleplay recipes. Not sure which one to pick? Read our framework comparison first.

Step 5: Enter your license key

Paste the license key from the Cfx.re Portal when asked. Keep it private: anyone who has the key can run a server under your name.

Step 6: Start the server and connect

Press Start in txAdmin and watch the console until it reports that the server is online. Open FiveM, press F8 and run connect localhost, or connect your.server.ip:30120 from another machine.

After your server is online

  • Back up your data folder and database regularly. txAdmin can schedule restarts and has backup tools.
  • Keep artifacts up to date. Test updates on a copy first when you can.
  • Add scripts one at a time and test each one. Follow how to install a FiveM script.
  • Set permissions and admin groups before you invite players.
  • Use a firewall and open only the ports you need.

Troubleshooting

  • Players cannot connect: port 30120 is not open on the firewall or router, or the server is behind NAT without port forwarding.
  • License key rejected: the key has a typo, was revoked or belongs to a different server. Generate a new one in the Portal.
  • txAdmin does not open: check that port 40120 is free and that you used the PIN printed in the console.
  • Recipe download fails: a firewall or antivirus may be blocking it. Try again with a temporary exception.

When your base server is stable, browse FiveM scripts for QBCore, Qbox and ESX to add the features your players will notice first.
